Speak English Well

Method

The Richardson Diagnostic identifies first Language Interferences while monitoring atypical speaking habits in the client. In addition to the diagnostic, the client’s learning style, motivations and goals are noted  through coaching methods.

The client begins with the Fundamentals of Phonetics and Phonology: the correct theory of British Standard IPA sounds; Stress Patterns, Weak Forms, Connected Speech and Intonation. It’s imperative to grasp the main differences between written English and spoken English.

The client learns self-awareness, linking physical actions to intellectual processes (brain to mouth); learning to hear themselves, reviewing self-made videos and recordings; working on the understanding of the diaphragm to the lungs and finally developing a habit for self-correction.

Cognitive Assimilation is a method that uses emotional memory, cognitive triggers and analogies to break fossilized habits and place the theoretical into the subconscious –  making speaking a natural act. Cognitive assimilation, at a subconscious level, means the client will see long-lasting results.

During the course the client is encouraged to nurture a thirst for curiosity, intrigue and perseverance. This is done via constant challenges and interactions that are on theme. By clearly understanding their progress, the client continues to practice and use the tailored resources provided  to make their fluency permanent and convincing.
